Legal Content Writer vs. Marketing Agency: What a Regional Firm Gets From Each
When a regional law firm decides it needs more content, the first question is often who should produce it. A marketing agency and a freelance legal content writer can both do the job, and they do it differently.
An agency offers breadth. A good one can handle web design, search optimization, advertising, social media, and reporting under one roof. If a firm needs a coordinated campaign and wants a single point of contact, that structure is a real advantage.
A legal content writer offers focus. The work centers on the writing itself: interviewing the attorneys, understanding the subject, and turning it into articles and web pages that read clearly and sound like the firm. Because there is no team between the writer and the attorney, ideas move quickly from the attorney's head to the page.
The best choice depends on what the firm lacks. If it needs strategy, technology, and promotion, an agency makes sense. If it already has a website and a promotion plan but is short on strong content, a writer addresses the missing piece. Many firms use both, with the agency handling the channels and the writer supplying the substance.
Cost and speed differ as well. An agency's fees usually cover a wide range of services, and a freelance writer's fees cover the writing alone. A long-term arrangement with a writer can feel less like a vendor and more like part of the team.
I have written legal content for a regional law firm since 2022, working directly with its attorneys. If your firm is weighing the options, I would be glad to talk about where a writer fits.
